Huanglong, located in Sichuan Province, China, is celebrated for its colorful terraced limestone ponds, snow-capped peaks, diverse forest ecosystems, and Tibetan culture. This UNESCO World Heritage site is recognized for its breathtaking beauty and unique geological formations.
Highlights of Huanglong
Huanglong is most famous for its stunning calcite pools, which vary in color from vibrant blues to rich greens, formed by calcite deposits. Notable attractions include the Five-Color Pond, which is considered one of the most beautiful sights in China, and the Huanglong Temple.
Activities: Visitors can walk along the 3.6-kilometer boardwalk, enjoying the view of the colorful pools, waterfalls, and rugged landscapes. The area is also excellent for photography and offers a chance to learn about local Tibetan and Qiang cultures.
Transportation: Huanglong is accessible via bus or car from Chengdu and is near Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport. Notably, Huanglong is very close to Jiuzhaigou Valley, allowing visitors to easily plan a visit to both breathtaking locations.
Cost: The entrance fee to Huanglong varies by season, approximately 200 RMB during the high season and less during the off-peak months. Additional costs include fees for the cable car to reach the higher or lower sections of the valley.
