Jiuzhaigou Valley, located in Sichuan Province, is famed for its ethereal landscape of clear lakes, multi-level waterfalls, and vivid forests. This UNESCO World Heritage site is often described as a fairy-tale world due to its breathtaking natural beauty.
Highlights of Jiuzhaigou Valley
Jiuzhaigou is distinguished by its three main valleys arranged in a Y shape. The area is home to many species of flora and fauna, along with stunning water bodies like the Mirror Lake, which perfectly reflects the surrounding mountains and skies, and the Five Flower Lake, known for its colorful underwater landscape.
Activities: Visitors can explore extensive walking trails, enjoy scenic bus rides that stop at major viewpoints, and partake in photographic tours. It’s an ideal destination for nature lovers and those interested in photography and hiking.
Transportation: Jiuzhaigou Valley is accessible by bus from Chengdu or nearby airports in Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport. The valley is very close to Huanglong, another stunning scenic area known for its colorful pools formed by calcite deposits.
Cost: Entrance fees to Jiuzhaigou vary by season, typically around 220 RMB in the high season and reduced rates during the winter months. Shuttle bus service within the park is an additional fee.
Visitor Facilities
Jiuzhaigou offers well-equipped facilities including multiple restaurants, cafes, and snack bars along the routes. Souvenir shops featuring local handicrafts are also available. Accommodations range from luxury hotels to budget guesthouses, mainly located at the entrance of the park.
